Large Health Services Provider Reduces Network Configuration and Management Time with Unified Wired and Wireless Solution

Lutheran Social Services of Michigan, a healthcare provider serving roughly 2,000 employees with a small networking team of two supporting multiple locations, faced a heterogeneous, hard-to-manage network (legacy Aruba and mixed vendors) that struggled with security, HIPAA compliance, BYOD and growing tele‑health demands. To simplify and secure their infrastructure they chose Extreme Networks, deploying ExtremeSwitching (S-Series core, B-Series edge), ExtremeWireless and Extreme Control Center to replace mismatched gear and centralize wired and wireless management.

Extreme Networks implemented a unified wired/wireless solution managed through Extreme Control Center and integrated with AirWatch MDM, which improved security, visibility and control while stabilizing legacy equipment during a phased migration. The deployment cut configuration time (AP installs take under 20 minutes), reduced ongoing management overhead, and freed the two‑person IT team to focus on strategic projects; Lutheran Social Services of Michigan also highlighted the responsiveness of Extreme Networks’ GTAC support.
