A Extreme Networks Case Study
King’s College, a small higher-education institution in Wilkes-Barre serving roughly 3,300 students, faculty and staff across 40 buildings, faced a decade-old wired and wireless infrastructure, rising BYOD demand, and a networking team of three. To deliver a consistent, high-speed user experience and simplify management, King’s College selected Extreme Networks and deployed 375 IdentiFi Wireless access points along with S-, K-, C- and D-Series switches and NetSight network management.
Extreme Networks integrated the wired and wireless environment so the college can manage the entire campus from a single pane of glass; IdentiFi Wireless delivered campus-wide single-SSID roaming, seamless device onboarding and plug‑and‑play AP provisioning. The upgrade produced a high-capacity, high-speed wireless network that reduced helpdesk load, drastically sped up imaging of about 1,000 machines, and enabled a three-person IT staff to proactively monitor and remediate issues—positioning King’s College to pursue virtual application delivery.
