A Extreme Networks Case Study
Kean University, New Jersey’s third‑largest public university, was struggling to deliver reliable, high‑capacity Wi‑Fi to more than 15,000 students, faculty and staff as legacy, centrally controlled networking caused bottlenecks when users brought multiple devices and emerging IoT needs grew. To create a consumer‑like experience across residence halls, classrooms and high‑density areas, Kean selected Extreme Networks’ Wireless LAN 9100 Series as the wireless component of an all‑Extreme infrastructure.
Extreme Networks implemented the Wireless LAN 9100 Series alongside Extreme Fabric Connect and its VSP and ERS switching platforms to create an auto‑configuring, secure campus fabric. The phased deployment has converted roughly half the campus and delivered a “just like at home” user experience, cut device onboarding from hours to minutes, improved security and reduced IT labor for installations—helping Kean support 15,000+ users with fewer operational impacts and better vendor leverage.
