K-12 School Provides Secure, Controlled Wireless Access for their Large Mobile Environment with Extreme Networks Products

The First Academy is a K–12 Christian college-preparatory school serving over 1,200 students on a 100,000‑square‑foot campus. Facing rapid mobile growth from a 1:1 iPad program and BYOD initiatives — managed by a single network administrator — The First Academy partnered with Extreme Networks to deploy an end-to-end wired and wireless infrastructure, including OneFabric Connect, Mobile IAM, IdentiFi APs/controllers, NetSight and modular/stackable switches, to deliver reliable, easy-to-manage coverage and enforce secure, policy-driven access.

Extreme Networks implemented OneFabric Connect integrated with Mobile IAM and JAMF’s Casper to authenticate devices (including MAC-based checks), enforce compliance and centralize management. Within four months TFA scaled from a few hundred to 800–1,000 wireless devices and now supports 1,200 students across campus; the Extreme Networks solution provided a secure BYOD environment, granular access control, simplified centralized management, measurable productivity gains for the lone IT staffer, and strong GTAC support.
