A Extreme Networks Case Study
Woodford County Public Schools, serving about 3,800 students across nine campuses, needed to replace an aging Nortel network to support a 1:1 iPad rollout (roughly 1,600 high‑school devices) and the University of Kentucky P20 Digital Driver’s License digital citizenship program. To gain visibility and control of devices, enforce policy-based internet access, and deliver a seamless wireless experience, the district selected Extreme Networks and its OneFabric solution, deploying C‑Series stackable switches, OneFabric Control Center, NetSight, Mobile IAM and Extreme wireless APs and controllers.
Extreme Networks implemented the OneFabric architecture with Mobile IAM and a transparent proxy service to tie devices to Active Directory groups and dynamically allocate privileges without changing client settings or VLANs. The result is a stable, secure 1:1 network with policy‑based access control and granular monitoring—enabling the district to track and audit student use, enforce the Digital Citizenship program, support the 1:1 initiative, and reduce network management overhead so teachers can focus on instruction.
