A Extreme Networks Case Study
Jefferson County Public Schools, the 27th largest district in the U.S. serving roughly 98,361–100,000 K–12 students across 165 buildings, needed a more robust, secure network to support its Digital Backpack initiative and an anticipated 100,000+ devices (Chromebooks, iPads, Windows devices) for personalized learning. Facing device density, multilingual needs, and the sudden shift to remote learning during COVID-19, the district turned to Extreme Networks to upgrade its infrastructure using solutions such as ExtremeWireless, ExtremeSwitching, Extreme Management Center, Extreme Analytics and Outdoor Wireless Mesh.
Extreme Networks, working with reseller StepCG and JCPS IT teams, deployed upgraded wireless and core switching, expanded access-point coverage (8,400+ APs), and enhanced management and analytics to improve authentication, security, and monitoring. The deployment delivered dramatic Internet speed improvements, reliable district‑wide Wi‑Fi supporting tens of thousands of concurrent devices, high-quality local and remote support, educational continuity during the pandemic, and measurable outcomes including 100% uptime and increased operational efficiency.
