IP Fabric Delivers Unlimited Cloud Scale, Reliability, and Agility

Servers.com, a Netherlands‑based cloud hosting provider operating a Global Private Network across three continents, needed to re‑think its network to support rapid growth, large 40 GbE/10 GbE demands, and in‑house OpenStack and SDN orchestration without adding operational complexity. After evaluating vendors, Servers.com selected Extreme Networks and its Extreme VDX switches and IP fabric topology to deliver a simple, flat, highly reliable network that could scale as new data centers were added.

Extreme Networks deployed an IP Fabric using ExtremeSwitching VDX 6940 spine and VDX 6740 leaf switches, providing non‑oversubscribed high‑capacity connectivity, REST API integration for OpenStack/SDN automation, and on‑demand 10 GbE port licensing. The solution scaled to support hundreds of switches, preserved IPv4 space with virtual gateway IPs and /31 links, and cut customer provisioning time from at least two hours to about 20–30 minutes—improving agility, reducing costs, and enabling faster service delivery.
