A Extreme Networks Case Study
Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, which serves thousands of patients across West and North Yorkshire and East Lancashire, needed faster clinical response times, improved operational efficiency and RFID‑based patient/equipment tagging. To meet these challenges the Trust engaged Extreme Networks, deploying ExtremeWireless technology including C4110 wireless controllers and campus wireless APs to modernize ward communications and mobile access for clinicians.
Extreme Networks implemented an intelligent wireless platform—two C4110 controllers (250 APs per unit, 500 in failover), ExtremeWireless and managed APs—integrated with VoIP and an Ekahau RFID solution for asset and patient tracking. The deployment delivered secure, real‑time access to patient records on the move, faster doctor response via mobile voice/email and COWs, RFID tracking of infusion pumps and high‑risk patients, optimized prior ICT investments and a resilient campus‑wide wireless/VoIP infrastructure.
