Grifols Dynamically Orchestrates Application Performance With SD-WAN

Grifols, a major Spanish healthcare company with 17,000 employees and nearly 200 plasma donation centers in the U.S., needed to move critical applications to the cloud after a major acquisition while ensuring near‑100% availability, protecting sensitive donor data, and improving donor experience by reducing wait times. To meet these challenges, Grifols engaged Extreme Networks and deployed ExtremeCloud™ SD‑WAN as an application‑aware SD‑WAN solution.

Extreme Networks implemented ExtremeCloud™ SD‑WAN to dynamically orchestrate and secure application traffic across Grifols’ WAN, delivering granular QoS and real‑time flow management. The solution minimized performance degradations—especially for remote U.S. sites connecting to four Spanish data centers—enabled increased use of video at donation centers to improve donor experience, produced a major reduction in network incidents, sped cloud migrations and new network deployments, and lowered overall telecom and bandwidth costs.
