Greeneville City Schools Learning Without Limits

Greeneville City Schools, an East Tennessee district serving about 3,000 students and 500 staff across nine locations, needed to modernize an aging Cisco network to support 1:1 computing, BYOD and rapidly growing device counts (3,500+ devices). They selected Extreme Networks and deployed ExtremeWireless, ExtremeSwitching, ExtremeManagement and ExtremeControl to deliver a scalable, district-wide wireless infrastructure.

Extreme Networks doubled the district’s APs, upgraded switches and deployed Extreme NAC to simplify onboarding, device control and troubleshooting; a proof-of-concept supported 500 simultaneous users and the production network reliably handles 25–30 students per classroom. The solution enabled district-wide BYOD and 1:1 learning, freed the two-person network team to work on other initiatives, and delivered measurable improvements in capacity, manageability and uptime for Greeneville City Schools.
