Case Study: Somerset College achieves 24x7 high-performance, secure network with Extreme Networks

A Extreme Networks Case Study

Preview of the Somerset College Case Study

Gold Coast School at the Forefront of Education and Technology Innovation

Somerset College, a co-educational independent school on Queensland’s Gold Coast serving about 1,500 students (350 staff) and roughly 2,500 connected devices, needed a reliable, high-performance 24x7 network to support a BYOD program, IoT devices and distributed campus services. To gain automated BYOD access, tightened security, and better visibility and analytics, the College selected Extreme Networks and deployed ExtremeSwitching, ExtremeMobility access points, Extreme Management Center and Extreme Application Analytics.

Extreme Networks delivered a software-defined switching and wireless solution with centralized management and analytics that outperformed the incumbent in trials by a factor of two to three. The deployment gave Somerset College per‑AP capacity for hundreds of users, seamless active‑active datacentre connectivity with no perceptible latency, faster issue isolation (saving hours of troubleshooting), and scalable coverage able to support large events (e.g., thousands of visitors) by adding a few access points — demonstrating clear gains in performance, reliability, control and planning enabled by Extreme Networks.
