Fully Integrated Network Solution for the Czech Republic’s Largest Steelmaker

ArcelorMittal Ostrava, the Czech Republic’s largest steelmaker and part of the global ArcelorMittal group, faced a 20-year legacy, multi-vendor network (including Cisco Catalyst 6500s, HP/3Com and industrial switches) spread across a 22 km² production floor. The IT team needed centralized management, unified control across heterogeneous hardware, better visibility into users and applications, and automated, secure guest access—requirements they addressed by selecting Extreme Networks and its Extreme Management Center platform along with ExtremeControl and ExtremeAnalytics (and ExtremeWireless components).

Extreme Networks implemented a fully integrated solution—Extreme Management Center with ExtremeControl and added ExtremeAnalytics probes—to unify management across vendors, deliver granular application visibility, and automate guest onboarding for wired and wireless environments. The deployment simplified network operations, enabled unified guest access and roaming across three wireless systems without re-login, automated access control with dynamic rule enforcement, and delivered measurable benefits (solving 70–80% of tasks on non-Extreme hardware and 100% on Extreme hardware), reducing management time and third‑party costs while increasing analytics and security.
