Four County Electric Energizes Its Community with Extreme

Four County Electric Membership Corporation (FCEMC), an electric cooperative serving more than 35,000 customers in North Carolina, needed to build a “bulletproof network” to support reliable service across its vast territory. With thousands of miles of power lines and critical community dependencies, FCEMC partnered with Extreme Networks and Concise Networks to create secure, resilient connectivity with built-in failover.

Extreme Networks helped FCEMC deploy Extreme Universal Switches and SLX switches across nearly 600 miles of fiber, forming two main fiber rings and multiple substation rings. The result was a scalable, secure network that improved dependability for FCEMC and enabled it to become an ISP, extending high-speed internet to underserved areas and supporting schools, businesses, emergency services, and economic growth.
