Case Study: Cloud Services Provider achieves low-latency, highly agile cloud voice backbone with Extreme Networks

A Extreme Networks Case Study

Preview of the Cloud Services Provider Case Study

Flexibility Means Agility When It Comes to Cloud Services

Cloud Services Provider runs global, low‑latency contact center and business telephony offerings from the cloud and needed a network backbone that could deliver high‑quality voice services with minimal latency and maintenance. They selected Extreme Networks solutions — including ExtremeRouting NetIron CER 2000 Series routers at the edge and Extreme VDX 6940/6740 switches with Extreme VCS Fabric technology — to meet their fabric‑based, programmable network requirements.

Extreme Networks implemented a replicated data‑center design using CER routers for BGP and MPLS, VDX switches for aggregation and a 40 Gbps MPLS optical ring across U.S. sites (with European links), plus VCS Logical Chassis and VM‑aware port profiles for automated provisioning. The deployment simplified management, enabled rapid, non‑disruptive switch additions, added OpenFlow programmability, consolidated BGP/MPLS routing, and accelerated data‑center rollouts — delivering measurable agility, reduced operational effort, and consistent low‑latency service delivery.
