Extreme WLAN gives Healthcare Provider Edge in Patient Care

Saber Healthcare Group, a growing skilled‑nursing provider with about 50 facilities across Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia, needed a simple, centrally managed wireless network to support clinical systems and improve patient experience. Saber required reliable Wi‑Fi for web‑based EMR/EHR access (PointClickCare), wireless kiosks and guest internet, and evaluated vendors before selecting Extreme Networks for its distributed architecture and centralized management capabilities.

Extreme Networks deployed an ExtremeWireless/ExtremeSwitching solution managed with ExtremeCloud IQ, delivering intelligent APs with built‑in security and controller‑less roaming. The deployment (five sites so far, with plans for >500 APs at ~10–11 APs per facility) enabled Saber to run PointClickCare over Wi‑Fi, segment guest and corporate traffic, eliminate controller single‑points‑of‑failure, and centrally push configurations—letting a three‑person IT team manage 50 locations and reducing travel and operational costs while improving patient connectivity and care.
