Extreme Wireless Network Enables Increased Efficiencies and Reduced Costs For Hawaii’s Largest Produce Distributor

Armstrong Produce, Hawaii’s largest produce distributor with three warehouses and over 600 orders daily, was mandated to implement a barcode-based Warehouse Management System (WMS) to improve picking productivity, reduce shipping errors and ensure traceability. To support the WMS they needed an enterprise-class wired and wireless network and selected Extreme Networks, deploying ExtremeSwitching, ExtremeWireless and ExtremeManagement to replace their consumer-grade equipment.

Extreme Networks delivered a heat‑mapped, enterprise wired/wireless solution (including B‑Series managed switches, access points and management tools) across 87,000 sq ft to support 226 users/devices and enable a paperless WMS and new systems (access control, timekeeping, security cameras). The deployment produced measurable results for Armstrong Produce: $3,120 per year in paperwork savings, a 75% reduction in shipping errors, streamlined operations and easier network management.
