Extreme Powers the Connected Classroom and 1:1 Learning for Harrogate Grammar School

Harrogate Grammar School, a non-selective North Yorkshire school of about 2,000 pupils in the Red Kite Learning Trust, needed a network capable of supporting a progressive 1:1 iPad program and thousands of simultaneously connected devices. With rising IT support requests and an aging infrastructure, the school engaged Extreme Networks (with partner NETprotocol) to provide a cloud-managed solution using ExtremeCloud IQ and ExtremeWireless access points to deliver a more robust, resilient and centrally managed network.

Extreme Networks deployed ExtremeCloud IQ and ExtremeWireless APs to create classroom coverage cells and a single centralized management portal, enabling seamless access for 2,500+ simultaneous devices and 30+ devices per classroom. The solution delivered measurable impact: students and staff can access resources within 30 seconds of entering a classroom, network access issues were eliminated (support requests reduced to zero), maintenance and upgrade costs fell, and IT time was freed—results Extreme Networks expects to scale across the Trust’s other schools.
