Extreme Networks Wireless Solution Supports 1:1 Google Chromebook Initiative

Apache Junction Unified School District (Apache Junction), serving more than 5,000 students across seven schools, needed to refresh its 1:1 netbook program with lighter, faster devices that could be managed district-wide and meet PARCC online testing requirements. Working with Extreme Networks, Apache Junction adopted Google Chromebooks (Samsung XE303C12 with management licenses) and relied on Extreme Networks’ wireless and network infrastructure—including IdentiFi Wireless APs & Controllers, S-, B- and D‑Series switches, OneFabric Control Center and NetSight—to support the initiative.

Extreme Networks delivered a high-performance Wi‑Fi and management solution (with GTAC configuration support) that enabled Apache Junction to roll out almost 2,000 Chromebooks in six months (800 at the high school, 1,100 across junior high and elementary schools, plus 400 more ordered). The deployment cut boot times from about 3 minutes to 30 seconds, improved student and teacher access to apps and collaboration via Google apps, simplified district-wide management, and made the district PARCC-ready. Extreme Networks’ infrastructure and support were cited as critical to these results.
