Extreme Networks Provides Simple, Secure and Reliable Wireless Access for Employees and Residents

City of Thousand Oaks, a 55-square-mile municipality with 128,000 residents, needed reliable, secure wireless access for roughly 500 employees and residents across five government locations while being managed by a single IT staffer. To meet rising BYOD and mobility demands, the City selected Extreme Networks and its OneFabric Edge solution (S-Series and C-Series/C5 switches, NetSight, and Extreme Networks wireless APs and controllers) to simplify management, improve security, and ensure seamless coverage.

Extreme Networks deployed the integrated OneFabric Edge and wireless solution to centralize wired and wireless management, enforce port-level policies, and enable single-SSID roaming across sites. As a result, AP deployment time fell from hours to minutes, the City now supports 500 users across five locations with fast, secure connectivity, reduced the number of SSIDs and the need for multiple APs (one AP versus 2–3), lowered costs and administrative burden, and enabled new mobile services (e.g., iPads at council meetings and municipal apps). Extreme Networks’ integrated management and support also reduced troubleshooting and increased IT productivity.
