Extreme Networks Provides Integrated Network Infrastructure to Support Galaxy Macau’s Expansion

Galaxy Entertainment Group’s flagship resort, Galaxy Macau, faced a major network challenge as its Phase 2 expansion added two hotels, hundreds of gaming tables and slot machines, and thousands more guests and devices. To ensure seamless mobile connectivity and a high‑performance, scalable infrastructure for roughly 18,000 users, Galaxy engaged Extreme Networks and specified products including Summit X460, Summit X440, Summit X430 series switches and BDX8/BD8K platforms.

Extreme Networks deployed a three‑layer architecture (BDX8/BlackDiamond core, Summit X460/X440/X430 at distribution and access) and connected more than 2,000 access points across the resort. The implementation—completed April–October 2014—delivered a reliable, scalable Wi‑Fi experience, refined network visibility and control, and the ability for a lean four‑person IT team to manage the environment while supporting thousands of mobile devices, noticeably improving guest connectivity and operational scalability.
