A Extreme Networks Case Study
Wittenberg University, a liberal arts college serving about 1,700–1,900 students and 470 faculty/staff with a three‑person networking team, faced growing BYOD complexity and the need to support a video‑intensive flipped classroom (Kaltura integrated with Moodle). To gain unified visibility and the ability to set and manage QoS across wired and wireless devices, Wittenberg selected Extreme Networks and deployed solutions including S‑Series and C‑Series switches, 3700 Series wireless APs and controllers, OneFabric/NetSight management, Mobile IAM and NAC.
Extreme Networks delivered a converged wired/wireless infrastructure and centralized management that let the small IT staff manage access, prioritize services, and support managed video delivery. As a result, Wittenberg upgraded core capacity from 1G to 10G and moved wireless from 802.11g to 802.11n, gained real‑time visibility and QoS control for diverse devices (including classroom devices and drones), and enabled the flipped classroom and virtual lab initiatives with measurable improvements in capacity and manageability.
