Extreme Networks Provides Cost-Effective, High-Performance Network Access to Support Mobile, BYOD, and Virtualization

Oral Roberts University (ORU), a Christian university of roughly 4,000–4,500 students and 500 faculty/staff, needed to support a surge in BYOD, virtualization and traffic‑intensive classroom technologies while keeping costs and staff effort low. ORU selected Extreme Networks and its solutions (S‑Series and C‑Series switches, OneFabric Control Center/OneClick, NetSight and SIEM) to meet requirements for higher bandwidth, easier management and granular visibility.

Extreme Networks upgraded ORU from older N‑Series gear to high‑performance S‑Series switches, moving the campus backbone from 1G to 10G and deploying NetSight and SIEM for policy‑based management and monitoring. The deployment delivered reliable, higher throughput to dorms and classrooms, reduced energy use and equipment footprint, improved manageability for ORU’s small IT team, kept costs down, and supported heavy student streaming (reported at about 60 TB of Netflix over a weekend) while enabling new services.
