A Extreme Networks Case Study
Central Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of Interior faced rapidly growing diagnostic imaging and a decade of expanding IT endpoints that caused slow data transfers, frequent switch failures, network loops and unauthorized devices on the LAN. To meet tender requirements for reliability, security, centralized management and lifetime support, the hospital selected a Siemens/Telsar offer that included solutions from Extreme Networks — notably ExtremeSwitching (S‑Series core and L3 edge switches), ExtremeWireless (802.11n), Extreme Access Control, IDS, ExtremeSecurity (SIEM) and Extreme Management Center.
Extreme Networks implemented a consolidated, manageable wired and wireless infrastructure (core/edge switching, NMS, access control, IDS and SIEM) in under three months, eliminating unauthorized devices and vastly improving data throughput and operational visibility. The new environment now supports ~900 PCs, ~200 terminals, ~100 wireless APs and ~200 printers across two data centers, runs at about 35% capacity headroom, enables secure tablet access for clinicians, and gives admins full centralized control (Compass, policy profiles) — delivering faster diagnostic result delivery, higher uptime and stronger data protection.
