Extreme Networks IdentiFiTM Wireless Ensures the Availability and Improves the Performance of Academic Applications

The University of Tulsa faced rising mobility and BYOD demands from roughly 4,600 students and 1,200 faculty/staff while operating with a four‑person networking team and an aging, manually configured wireless infrastructure. To address spotty coverage and poor BYOD controls, the university chose Extreme Networks and its IdentiFi™ Wireless solution along with S‑Series core switches, C‑ and D‑Series edge switches, NetSight management and Mobile IAM.

Extreme Networks replaced the legacy core and deployed more than 775 IdentiFi access points (2,400 planned), S‑Series core and C‑Series edge switches, and NetSight/Mobile IAM for unified management. The result was campus‑wide wireless coverage, a secure, scalable BYOD solution manageable by a small IT staff, improved application availability (supporting video streaming and VoIP) and a lower total cost of ownership enabled by Extreme Networks’ integrated platform and support.
