A Extreme Networks Case Study
Madrid Digital, the Agency for Digital Administration for the Community of Madrid, needed a robust, secure and easy-to-manage wireless infrastructure to deliver its MOVSS program of virtual social and healthcare services. To support 802.11ac access for Electronic Medical Records, videoconferencing, mobile device management and clinical IoT devices across hospitals, nursing homes and therapy centers, Madrid Digital engaged Extreme Networks, using ExtremeWireless APs and controllers, ExtremeSwitching and Extreme NSight management software.
Extreme Networks deployed about 1,400 802.11ac access points plus controllers, switching and management tools across 12 hospitals, 13 nursing homes, 2 mental-health centers and 3 occupational therapy centers, supporting almost 17,000 staff and more than 1.5 million citizens. The new Extreme Networks infrastructure now reliably supports EMRs, video consultations and connected medical devices, drove a significant uptick in Wi‑Fi usage, reduced MTTR/raised MTBF, cut operational and maintenance costs, centralized data management and delivered measurable efficiency and performance improvements.
