Extreme Networks Helps Connect School District With a Single Network

Upper St. Clair School District, just outside Pittsburgh, serves about 4,100 students across six schools plus a central office and bus garage (eight buildings total). Facing persistent co‑channel interference and daily troubleshooting with its legacy Cisco Wi‑Fi, the district needed a single, futureproof network to support more than 150 applications and the many devices used by students and staff. Working with IT partner Cerdant, the district chose Extreme Networks and its ExtremeSwitching, ExtremeWireless and ExtremeCloud™ IQ solutions.

Extreme Networks deployed those solutions across all eight buildings, with Cerdant supporting fast planning and implementation. The result was consistent, reliable connectivity for as many as 20,000 connected devices and 150+ applications, a reported peak of 1.5 Gb running smoothly, and simplified management via a single‑pane‑of‑glass for a seven‑person IT team. Extreme Networks’ programmable radios and AI‑driven, self‑healing features reduced day‑to‑day troubleshooting, eased the E‑Rate process, and provided ongoing project support.
