A Extreme Networks Case Study
The University of Mount Union, serving about 3,000 users and supporting some 13,000 simultaneous devices, struggled with limited visibility, performance bottlenecks from heavy BYOD and streaming use, and constrained IT staff resources. To modernize and secure its network, Mount Union partnered with Extreme Networks (with Palo Alto Networks providing firewalling) and deployed Extreme Networks S-Series core and C/B/K-Series edge switches, IdentiFi Wireless, NetSight, Purview application analytics and Network Access Control.
Extreme Networks’ integrated solution delivered centralized management and per-user, per-app visibility, allowing Mount Union to double network capacity, significantly reduce troubleshooting time, and tighten security in concert with Palo Alto Networks’ 4000-Series firewalls. The result was a more reliable, high-performance network that supports 3,000 users and 13,000 devices, faster incident response (including locating a stolen laptop), improved decision-making through analytics, and measurable cost savings for the university.
