A Extreme Networks Case Study
The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, an 1890 Land-Grant HBCU with about 2,500 students and 800 faculty/staff, faced rising BYOD and mobility demands, security and bandwidth pressures, and a two-person IT team working with a tight budget. To modernize and reduce operating costs they selected Extreme Networks to replace their aging Cisco infrastructure, deploying Extreme’s wired and wireless portfolio including S-Series switches, C-Series, IdentiFi Wireless, OneFabric Control Center, NetSight, Network Access Control and Mobile IAM.
Working with implementation partner IK Electric, Extreme Networks delivered an integrated solution—S-Series CoreFlow core, Mobile IAM, NAC, NetSight management and IdentiFi wireless under the OneFabric dashboard—providing centralized policy, device visibility and automated management. The Extreme Networks deployment produced a high-performance, secure and highly available network with minimal downtime, reduced maintenance costs (limited lifetime warranty and fewer EOL-driven upgrades), increased IT productivity (the two-person team now manages the campus centrally with fewer complaints) and even supported the university’s first supercomputer, delivering clear ROI and improved user experience.
