Extreme Application Analytics Improves Customer Satisfaction and Delivers a Better Patient Experience

Indiana University Health, a large, mission‑critical healthcare system, faced growing mobile and BYOD demands across clinical and guest devices and needed 24/7 network availability with far greater visibility and control. With only 1.5 IT staff managing roughly 4,500 users and 2,500 guest devices daily, the hospital lacked application and network insight, risking downtime and inconsistent patient/guest wireless experiences. Indiana University Health selected Extreme Networks (using ExtremeSwitching, ExtremeWireless, Extreme Management Center and ExtremeAnalytics) to address these challenges.

Extreme Networks replaced the hospital’s Cisco/Juniper infrastructure with S‑Series core and C/B‑Series edge switches plus ExtremeWireless and Extreme Analytics, delivering unified management, granular application visibility and redundancy. The deployment (one building converted with under two hours’ downtime) gave IU Health centralized control, enabled traffic shaping and license optimization, and drove measurable impact — customer satisfaction rose from 85% to 94%, more consistent user experiences and cost savings, and improved patient outcomes as doctors spend more time with patients.
