European Investment Bank Deploys a Future Proofed Network

The European Investment Bank (EIB), the European Union’s bank, needed a highly available, secure and scalable network to support growth across two Luxembourg campuses and more than 40 satellite offices worldwide. As a long‑term partner since 1997, Extreme Networks was engaged to modernize EIB’s wired and wireless infrastructure using ExtremeSwitching, ExtremeWireless, ExtremeManagement, ExtremeControl and ExtremeAnalytics to deliver consistent user experience and stronger security as headcount and device density increased.

Extreme Networks implemented a centralized, software‑driven platform combining high‑performance switching and high‑density Wi‑Fi, single‑pane management, device‑based access control and application visibility. The deployment (including over 450 access points) provided connectivity for roughly 4,000 users and 15,000 devices, reduced management time and operating costs, and allowed the bank’s physical footprint and device count to grow threefold while keeping IT staffing levels steady—while also improving security and overall user experience.
