Coppin State Trusts C1 and Extreme for a Major Overhaul

Coppin State University, an HBCU in Baltimore, needed a major network refresh because its aging infrastructure was out of support, lacked updates, and was creating operational inefficiencies across 12 buildings and smart classrooms. The university worked with Extreme Networks and partner C1, choosing Extreme after evaluating several vendors and looking for a simpler solution that could fit its campus needs.

Extreme Networks helped Coppin State University replace its data center, core, and edge switching in three phases, while also deploying ExtremeCloud IQ Site Engine for centralized automation and management. The upgrade cut network management time by 50–60%, boosted the data center and core backbone from 40 Gbps to 100 Gbps, doubled edge uplinks from 10 Gbps to 25 Gbps, and finished ahead of schedule.
