Conecuh County School District Goes From Persistent Downtime to Nonstop Connectivity

Conecuh County School District, a seven-school district in Alabama serving about 1,800 students, was struggling with frequent downtime and poor connectivity from a hodgepodge of legacy switches (Cisco, Brocade, HP, Juniper) that prevented use of classroom tools like HoverCam Pilots and Acellus STEM labs. To future-proof the network and simplify management, Conecuh selected Extreme Networks and its solution stack including ExtremeMobility, ExtremeSwitching, Extreme Management Center, ExtremeAnalytics and ExtremeControl (with ExtremeWireless for Wi‑Fi).

Extreme Networks consolidated the district onto an all‑Extreme infrastructure and deployed centralized monitoring and management, enabling wireless Pilots, full use of Acellus Labs, and one‑pane visibility for a three‑person IT team. The upgrade delivered measurable impact: the network was consolidated to Extreme exclusively, achieved five‑9s uptime, expanded capacity (current use ~300 Mb/s with 700 Mb/s headroom), and eliminated user complaints — with ongoing GTAC support from Extreme Networks.
