Concord Hospital Expands Patient Care With Flexible Network Infrastructure

Concord Hospital, a regional healthcare system in New Hampshire, needed to rapidly modernize networking at two recently acquired regional hospitals in Laconia and Franklin without any operational downtime. The IT team had to simplify and securely extend services across multiple locations and adopt next‑generation wireless (Wi‑Fi 6E) to support telehealth and roaming VDI. To meet these needs they engaged Extreme Networks, deploying Extreme Wireless, ExtremeCloud IQ, Extreme Switching, Extreme Fabric Connect and Extreme Control.

Extreme Networks used Extreme Universal Hardware and Extreme Fabric Connect to extend Concord’s main campus network, replace aging switches, and deploy a new wired and wireless fabric—including support for roaming VDI and single sign‑on. The integration was completed in weeks instead of years with no downtime, reduced IT costs by extending centralized resources and combining Cerner instances, and eliminated repetitive EMR logins (previously upwards of 100 times per day) while improving security, staff productivity and support for telehealth and mobile medical devices.
