Cloud Networking Makes the Difference for Chinese International School

Chinese International School in Hong Kong, a K–12 private school with about 1,500 students, 320 staff and an average of 2,600 daily network clients, faced severe instability when its legacy wired and controller‑based Wi‑Fi couldn’t handle high device density and Bonjour/tunneled traffic. To solve bandwidth, traffic management and stability problems the school turned to Extreme Networks, adopting cloud‑managed wireless solutions (ExtremeWireless and ExtremeCloud IQ).

Extreme Networks deployed a distributed, cloud‑managed architecture using ExtremeWireless access points (AP121, AP230, AP250), ExtremeCloud IQ for auto‑provisioning and staged firmware updates, and PPSK for secure onboarding, plus outdoor mesh coverage for sports fields. The rollout required no onsite controller hardware, eliminated user downtime, simplified management, improved security, and raised the school’s SLA from 70% to 99%; migration to the latest ExtremeCloud IQ took only a few hours with no disruption.
