Case Study: City of Troy achieves reliable, redundant citywide connectivity with Extreme Networks

A Extreme Networks Case Study

Preview of the City of Troy Case Study

City of Troy Reliably Connects Employees, Citizens, Buildings, Devices, and Cameras

The City of Troy faced a complex, sprawling network challenge: providing fast, reliable, and secure connectivity for 70 locations, 400+ employees and more than 10,000 wired and wireless devices while managing a “mutt network” of switches from multiple vendors. To simplify operations, improve reliability and support future growth, the City of Troy selected Extreme Networks and its ExtremeSwitching, ExtremeManagement and ExtremeXOS solutions as the standardized switching platform.

Extreme Networks replaced disparate gear with a unified Extreme switching infrastructure (a migration that grew the estate from ~30 switches in 20 locations to over 100 switches in 70 locations) and built a 10Gb ring for redundancy. The result: a server backbone that reacts more than twice as quickly, noticeably faster application access for employees, downtime effectively eliminated, real cost and time savings, improved 911 redundancy, remote meter control capabilities, and ongoing 24x7 GTAC support from Extreme Networks.
