City of Bellevue Maximizes ROI from Microsoft Lync with Extreme Networks

The City of Bellevue, Washington — a municipal government with 14 departments and roughly 1,400–1,500 employees — faced a fractured legacy communications environment that hindered collaboration and drove up costs. To replace disparate tools and accelerate adoption of Microsoft Lync, the City partnered with Extreme Networks, using Extreme’s automated QoS capabilities along with OneFabric Connect and Purview analytics to deliver end-to-end QoS and visibility for Lync across wired and wireless networks.

Extreme Networks implemented dynamic QoS via OneFabric Connect integrated with the Lync SDN API and deployed Purview for application and network analytics, allowing QoS profiles to be provisioned in hours and isolating issues quickly. The result was clearer audio/video, faster Lync adoption, reduced troubleshooting time, deeper traffic visibility, and nearly $100,000 saved by replacing the traditional PBX — outcomes driven by Extreme Networks’ QoS automation and analytics.
