Chiayi City Tax Bureau Protects Intranet and Extranet from Unauthorized Access with Extreme Networks

Chiayi City Tax Bureau needed to replace an aging network to boost performance, security and management simplicity while keeping operations running with just one network administrator. To protect a deliberately segmented intranet and extranet (170 intranet PCs, 150 extranet PCs, 30 intranet servers and 20 extranet servers) and prevent unauthorized plug‑in access, the Bureau selected Extreme Networks and deployed Summit X460 core switches, Summit X350 edge switches and Ridgeline network management.

Extreme Networks implemented an infrastructure of Summit X460 and 18 Summit X350 switches with Ridgeline for centralized management, identity authentication and access control. The deployment preserved users’ log‑in credentials and daily operations, reduced IT workload for the lone administrator, provided email/on‑screen fault notifications, improved internet performance with 10 Gbit capacity and laid a foundation for virtualization and growth for the next eight to ten years.
