A Extreme Networks Case Study
The Seattle Seahawks at CenturyLink Field needed to transform game-day connectivity for tens of thousands of fans in an open-air, hard-to-mount environment while preserving sightlines and supporting services like mobile ticketing, in-seat ordering, POS and real-time content. After an RFP the team selected Extreme Networks to deliver a high-density stadium Wi‑Fi solution using ExtremeWireless/Extreme APs, wireless controllers, ExtremeSwitching, ExtremeControl and ExtremeAnalytics to achieve 100% bowl coverage and support high concurrent user loads.
Extreme Networks deployed a stadium-grade network and management/analytics platform that provided pervasive, secure Wi‑Fi and complemented the DAS. In the first season the deployment averaged ~20,000 unique users and ~14,500 concurrent users per game, with 25–30% in-venue Wi‑Fi use, met the 100% bowl coverage and 40% concurrent-user design goals, enabled enhanced team-app features (live video, in-seat ordering, Ticketmaster integration), and gave the Seahawks actionable insights via ExtremeAnalytics while allowing just two staff to manage the system.
