A Extreme Networks Case Study
City of Caxias Do Sul, a municipality of over 400,000 residents and a regional economic center, faced a costly, low‑speed and insecure telecommunications infrastructure—about 80% of units were on an outsourced radio platform with unstable links and no network segmentation or manageability. The city selected the Infortech consortium, including Extreme Networks, to implement INFOVIA, a new municipal telecommunications solution built with fiber‑optic cabling, redundant rings, managed switches and network management software from Extreme Networks.
Extreme Networks and its partners deployed a 100% owned integrated fiber network with a 10‑point redundant optical ring, managed switches and device authentication, connecting roughly 4,000 users across 19 secretariats. The upgrade raised per‑unit links to 1 Gbps (10 Gbps on the ring), delivered improved security (authorized‑device access and segmented printing), faster fault isolation via MAC‑to‑port mapping, greater stability and measurable savings in telephony and transport—outcomes the City of Caxias Do Sul cites as clear ROI from the Extreme Networks solution.
