Case Study: Canadian Health Centre achieves 7x faster EHR backups and improved patient care with Extreme Networks

A Extreme Networks Case Study

Preview of the Canadian Health Centre Case Study

Canadian Health Centre Advances Patient Care with Reliable Network Solution

Canadian Health Centre undertook a major expansion that doubled its footprint and added a state‑of‑the‑art cancer centre, creating a demanding IT environment with roughly 2,000 end‑user devices, ~400 applications, large diagnostic image sets, continuous cardiac monitoring data, a Meditech EHR, and a unified communications strategy. To meet strict requirements for speed, capacity, scalability and redundancy, the health centre selected Extreme Networks and deployed core Extreme solutions (MLX Series routers, NetIron CER 2000 and VDX switches) to support the new facility and its 500+ access points.

Extreme Networks delivered a high‑performance, redundant network that supports two data centers, 100/10/1 GbE connectivity, and the growing Big Data needs of clinical systems. As a result, the centre reduced EHR backup time from 28 hours to 4 hours (a seven‑fold improvement), raised the cancer centre’s data integrity ranking from 14th to 10th in the province, improved overall patient‑satisfaction scores and reduced wait times, and reliably supported 7 TB of clinical data and more than 80,000 patient visits.
