Burlington Area School District Strives for a Reliable, Modern Network

Burlington Area School District, serving more than 3,200 students and 400+ staff across 9 buildings, needed to replace an aging network to support its 1:1 Chromebook program, a growing high‑school esports program, and expanded outdoor Wi‑Fi at the football field — all on a tight K‑12 budget. After working with solutions integrator CompuNET, the district selected Extreme Networks, deploying ExtremeFabric™, ExtremeWireless™, VSP Automated Campus hardware (including VSP 7200s), 440G2 EXOS switches, and Extreme Management Center™ to meet its scalability, management, and cost‑effectiveness goals.

Extreme Networks engineers and CompuNET ran a 12+ month planning and deployment process that replaced legacy gear, added fiber and outdoor wireless, and automated Chromebook onboarding via the Google Admin Console (plus a DMZ for the esports room). The result: a purpose‑built, reliable network supporting roughly 3,500+ end users and 3,531 devices across 9 sites, significantly improved outdoor wireless performance, expanded esports capabilities, and stronger ongoing support and E‑rate guidance from Extreme Networks.
