A Extreme Networks Case Study
Ziekenhuis Oost-Limburg (ZOL), a major Belgian healthcare provider with more than 1,000 hospital beds, faced the challenge of giving a small IT team of four the ability to manage networks across four campuses and thousands of APs, switches and endpoints while improving mobility, security and cost-efficiency for a 24/7 hospital environment. To meet these needs ZOL partnered with Extreme Networks and deployed ExtremeWireless, ExtremeSwitching and, centrally, Extreme Fabric Connect to provide scalable segmentation and simpler management.
Extreme Networks implemented a fabric-based network using Extreme Fabric Connect (with Orange Cyberdefense as a delivery partner), which simplified network segmentation for medical devices, building systems and guest bandwidth, improved visibility and security, and lowered operational complexity and costs. The solution enabled rapid, isolated onboarding of services, supported a hospital merger, kept the migration ahead of schedule despite COVID, and freed ZOL’s IT team to focus more on patient care.
