Baylor Outfits New Stadium with Professional Grade Wi-Fi for an Interactive Fan Experience

Baylor University outfitted its new McLane Stadium to deliver a high‑density, secure mobile experience for more than 45,000 fans and needed a solution to support real‑time content, a gameday app, and granular visibility and control of users, devices, and applications. To meet these requirements Baylor selected Extreme Networks and its portfolio including ExtremeWireless (AP3715i/AP3765e and controllers), ExtremeSwitching, ExtremeControl and ExtremeAnalytics.

Extreme Networks delivered a complete wired and wireless infrastructure—access points and controllers, S‑Series/C‑Series/7100 switches, ExtremeControl for onboarding/authentication and ExtremeAnalytics for visibility—plus a Certified Wi‑Fi Coach Program for in‑venue support. The deployment (completed before the 2014 season) supported full stadium events, enabled the Baylor InGame app and improved fan engagement; measurable results included an average Wi‑Fi adoption rate of 31% and just over 17,000 unique clients using the network.
