Case Study: Leading North American Bank achieves rapid provisioning and low-latency IP storage with Extreme Networks

A Extreme Networks Case Study

Preview of the Leading North American Bank Case Study

Bank Segregates Storage for Newfound Flexibility

Leading North American Bank was running its storage over a shared Ethernet network and the storage team faced weeks-long delays whenever new ports or capacity were needed, slowing application rollout and growth. To gain control and flexibility, the bank engaged Extreme Networks and deployed Extreme VDX 6740 switches and Extreme VCS Fabric technology to create a dedicated IP storage environment.

Extreme Networks implemented a segregated, fabric-based IP storage network using Extreme VDX 6740 switches and Extreme VCS Fabric, bringing zero-touch provisioning, automation, multipath load‑balancing and ultra-low-latency 10GbE/40GbE connectivity. The change let the storage team scale capacity in minutes instead of weeks, fulfilled performance and low-latency requirements, improved link efficiency and resiliency, met risk and cost thresholds, and produced a repeatable network reference model for additional big data applications.
