A Extreme Networks Case Study
Rancho Water, the water and wastewater utility in Temecula, California serving 155,000+ residents across 150 square miles (about 40,000 service connections), needed to eliminate single points of failure, gain port- and device-level visibility, protect critical infrastructure, and do so cost‑effectively. To meet those needs they partnered with Extreme Networks, deploying ExtremeSwitching™, Ethernet Automatic Protection Switching (EAPS) and Extreme Management Center™ to build a resilient, manageable network.
Extreme Networks implemented EAPS rings between every IDF and a multi‑connected EAPS ring between two data centers five miles apart, upgraded links to 10G and multi‑fiber, and used Extreme Management Center for device-level control and network access control. The result: continuous, uninterrupted uptime (including seamless fiber-to-wireless failover), prevention of anomalous events, lower total cost of ownership, and a long‑term, highly resilient network that keeps Rancho Water’s operations and community services running reliably.
