A Extreme Networks Case Study
The Brussels Intercommunal Transport Company (STIB) operates the Metro Brussels network and faced a 24x7x365 operational challenge: rapidly growing ridership had pushed manual operations to their limit and STIB needed a highly reliable, scalable, and automated network that could also support a large IP video-surveillance environment. STIB selected Extreme Networks to deliver a purpose-built “Mission Critical Network,” using Extreme Fabric Connect, Extreme Management Center, and ExtremeAnalytics to meet requirements for automation, visibility, and uninterrupted service.
Extreme Networks, working with implementation partner Prodata Systems, deployed a network-virtualized solution that enabled real-time automated control of metro traffic, full integration of manual and automated operations, and a scalable IP video system supporting up to 15,000 HD cameras. The implementation delivered measurable benefits — an estimated 33% increase in capacity, improved system uptime, real-time virtual machine mobility between data centers, and freed IT resources to focus on new services — helping STIB move toward an autonomous, resilient transit operation.
