Assisted Living Community Leader Delivers Higher Levels of Care with Wi-Fi and EMR

Brookdale Senior Living, the largest senior-housing provider in the U.S. with 645 communities, ~46,000 associates and ~60,000 residents, needed a resilient, secure and easily manageable WLAN to support portable EMR access, guest Internet and compliance (HIPAA/SOX) while minimizing strain on a small engineering team. After evaluating options, Brookdale selected Extreme Networks and its ExtremeCloud IQ and ExtremeWireless solutions to meet those requirements.

Extreme Networks delivered a cooperative-control, no-controller wireless architecture using ExtremeWireless APs managed by ExtremeCloud IQ, providing enterprise-class Wi‑Fi with simplified management, high availability and strong security. The deployment has produced wireless infrastructure with zero interruptions and reduced management overhead; Brookdale has completed 50 sites so far, purchased over 1,000 APs, and plans to roll Extreme Networks to all 645 communities over the next five quarters (an expected ~6,000 APs total).
