A Extreme Networks Case Study
Alyeska Resort, the largest ski area in Alaska, was facing growing guest complaints and falling TripAdvisor scores because in-room wired Internet and limited Wi‑Fi coverage could not support the increasing number of mobile devices. Seeking a turnkey wireless upgrade, Alyeska worked with Extreme Networks (via integrator ExtenData) to evaluate solutions such as the ExtremeWireless WiNG platform and the T5 Wi‑Fi over VDSL2 system to deliver reliable in-room and property-wide Wi‑Fi.
Extreme Networks’ solution — T5 Wi‑Fi over VDSL2 wallplates, AP 7161 outdoor access points, AP 7522 indoor APs and TW-0522 802.11ac wallplates managed by ExtremeWireless — provided full in-room coverage, point-to-point links to outlying buildings (installed in hours), and simplified centralized management. The deployment eliminated frequent support calls, enabled rapid provisioning, reduced network management time and cost, increased staff productivity, and delivered “100% guest satisfaction” with Wi‑Fi service.
