A ExtraHop Case Study
Purdue Pharma, a Stamford-based pharmaceutical company, needed to cut growing data center maintenance and licensing costs while improving performance and visibility for critical enterprise applications (SAP, Oracle, SharePoint). The IT team aimed to reduce the data center footprint, boost application response, and give support tiers a clear, correlated view across network, application, database and storage layers.
Purdue deployed converged Vblock infrastructure with Cisco UCS and implemented ExtraHop’s wire-data analytics to monitor L2–L7 traffic without agents. The move reduced the data center from 10,000 to 3,000 sq. ft. (≈70% reduction), achieved roughly 70% faster application response, reached 94% server virtualization, consolidated servers (e.g., 12→8 blades), and sped troubleshooting—improving IT productivity and enabling proactive optimization.
