Greene County Leverages ID Shield Advanced Redaction to Balance Public Record Access with Enhanced Data Protection

Greene County, Missouri, was preparing to move its recorder’s office records online and wanted to protect constituents’ private information, such as Social Security numbers, even though redaction was not officially mandated. To support access to roughly 250,000 document pages a year plus historical images, the county needed an on-premise solution that could integrate with its custom records system, handle handwritten content, and process both new filings and backfile documents efficiently. Greene County selected Extract Systems’ ID Shield Advanced Redaction technology.

Extract Systems implemented ID Shield on site to redact day-forward and historical records simultaneously, with burned-in redactions, eliminated metadata, and retained indexed images for internal tracking. The county reported that the software processed records reliably, accurately, and swiftly, helping reduce the risk of inadvertent disclosure while increasing public access. Greene County’s Recorder praised Extract Systems for its superior redaction tool and performance.
